Turkish Cypriot driver arrested for sexually harassing a 13-year-old girl inside the bus

A 64-year-old minibus driver has been taken into custody on charges of sexually harassing a 13-year-old girl who was a passenger in his bus while driving along the Girne-Lefkosa main road.

The accused, named as C.O., 64, a minibus driver on the Girne-Lefkosa route, was arrested and taken into custody on Tuesday, July, 24.

According to police report, the driver while driving along the Girne-Lefkosa main road on the said day, touched the body of the 13-year-old girl who was seated on the front passenger seat beside the driver.

The girl reported the incident to her 16-year-old nephew who in turn reported to her mother.

The driver who gave voluntarily testimony in court said he mistakenly touched the girl on her leg while trying to change gear adding that it was not intentional.

He was brought before a Girne court on Thursday on charges of "Sexual Assault" and was released on bail.
