Solskjaer won't overhaul United squad

Following defeat to Barcelona on Tuesday night, many would expect Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to begin in earnest his plans to overhaul the squad at Manchester United.

There were weaknesses across the pitch, in central defence, with Ashley Young, and there were struggles in both midfied and attack as the whole team was overrun by a demonstrably better side. However, after the game he mentioned he wanted only 'one or two' additions.

***: Solskjaer's words immediately after the match don't guarantee that this forms the basis of his transfer plans, but there is cause for concern. For two consecutive summer transfer windows, Jose Mourinho was let down by Ed Woodward, and there is no reason to expect anything different this year. Add to that the wages that Woodward gives to even mediocre squad players, and it will make wholesale changes very difficult indeed.
