Student found dead in Haspolat may have been murdered over money settlement issue

An unconfirmed information reaching Turkish Cypriot police claimed that the unidentified student who was found dead at a forest area near Tashkent village in Haspolat may have been murdered over money settlement issue.

Why his identity is yet to be ascertained, another report reaching the police claimed his nick name was Bimbo.

In the early hours of Friday morning, police were called to a forest area in Haspolat after the body of an African male student believed to be between the age of 25-30 was found.

Police found cuts on his face and bruise on several parts of his body with blood coming out of his mouth. Initial police findings revealed that he may have been murdered in another place and then carried to the scene.

At the time, no form of identity was found on him while all those who were called from a nearby university to identify him failed to give his identity.

An autopsy released later in the day revealed that he suffered from head trauma, cerebral hemorrhage and loss of breath as a result of being choked and severely beaten to death.

According to a report by Turkish Cypriot daily, Yeniduzen on Sunday, new information reaching the police claimed that he may have been murdered over money settlement issue.

The source also claimed that he was a student of a nearby university but it was not known if he was registered in the current academic year. The source also said that his name is Bimbo which is yet to be verified by the police.

The police did not come across any clues as to who committed the murder and why but have gathered important information regarding the incident.

Police noted that the body was brought to the scene with a vehicle that could not be identified yet. 

Several African students have been questioned in the area since the incident but non was willing to give any clue on the identity of the deceased. 

The only information they got was that he was known by the name Bimbo in the area.

At the moment, the police are yet to identify him and his nationality.

Meanwhile, the police have launched a wide scale investigation across all universities in the country.
