TRNC Trades union protest price increases

This is the moment a Turkish Cypriot trade unionist wields his iron and board outside the Prime Ministry to protest the kikes in electricity and other commondities.

Municipalities are being urged to fight in the courts against higher water charges from May 1 that most say will “inevitably” be passed on to consumers.

News of the imminent rise came hot on the heels of recent price hikes in peak-time electricity, bottled gas and petrol which triggered a day of industrial action outside the Prime Ministry yesterday by three trades unions in protest at government policies they claim are fuelling inflation.
