Student steals computer at EMU library, sold and spend proceeds on bet

A student has been detained for three days by a court in Famagusta for stealing and selling a computer he found at the EMU library.

The accused who reportedly stole the computer on May, 13, 2019 and then sold it for 2,500 Turkish Lira was arrested on Saturday after he was detected by reviewed camera images.

He was taken to a court in Famagusta for stealing and selling a student computer from the EMU library.

A witness told the court that he had turned off the computer and left it on a table in the library when it went missing.

Police said the accused confessed to the crime and gave some statements.

According to report, he allegedly sold the computer in a second hand market in Famagusta and used the proceeds in bet office.

The court ordered that he remain in detention for three days so police can carry out investigation on the matter.
