Two women arrested for begging in the streets of Lefkosa
Two women begging in the streets of Lefkosa, north Cyprus were arrested during a street raid by the Lefkosa municipality and police joint team.
The two women were caught on Wednesday asking for money with various excuses from the public.
The two women aged 35 and 38 were taken to the Lefkosa police station and detained for not more than 20 days on court orders.
Street begging is illegal in North Cyprus and a punishable crime if caught.
