Man detained for kidnapping and assaulting fiancée in TRNC

A man has been detained for kidnapping and assaulting his fiancée, and threatening to kill her for leaving him.

The accused reportedly committed the crime on Sunday, July, 7 and was arrested on Monday, July, 8 in Lefkosa.

He forcefully abducted her in the district of Bogazkoy, forced her into his vehicle and hit a vehicle as he fled the scene. Police said she was beaten several times in the head and face as the accused drove off.

According to police report, the accused beat her up and threatened to kill her. 

She escaped when no one was there and took refuge in the police.

The police launched an investigation into the issue and found that the suspect had made a traffic accident in the village of Dikmen and left the scene of the accident.

Police said that he left the vehicle in Famagusta and escaped, and was later identified and arrested in Famagusta.

He was taken to a court in Lefkosa on Tuesday, July, 9 on charges of forced abduction, threat of violence, intentional damage and serious assault.

He was given a three day detention order until trial.
