Nine people arrested in Lefkosa in connection with the murder of Nigerian student, Obasanjo

Nine people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Nigerian student, Obasanjo Adeola Owoyale.

Obasanjo, 33 was found dead in the boot of a car parked in an area near a school in Lefkosa on Monday, July, 8, seven days after he was declared missing.

Police launched a large-scale investigation following the incident.

The suspects were arrested at about 4:00am in a well organized operation carried out by the Lefkosa Police Department on a three-storey building in Lefkosa on Thursday, July, 11.

The police broke into two apartments and searched every room in each apartment. A machete and a vase with blood trace thought to have been used in the murder was found and taken as exhibit.

Traces of blood was also found around the apartment and in the parking lot. Police also search the stairs for any clue.

The apartment is located at about 500 meters from the venue where the car was parked claimed Turkish Cypriot daily, Yeniduzen.

The police are currently interrogating the suspects who will all appear in a Lefkosa court on Friday.
