Student allegedly snitched on roommate that got him deported
A Nigerian student has been deported for not having a resident permit following an alleged snitch by his roommate.
According to a narrative of someone privy to the issue, the deported student was arrested in his home in Lefkosa last week after the police busted him for not having a resident.
According to the source, the victim committed no crime neither was he involved in anything illegal.
Police visited his apartment with his picture to search for him. After much effort, he was located and taken to the station where he was immediately arraigned before a judge on charges of living in the country illegally.
The source who repeatedly visited the victim in custody noted that his arrest might be the handiwork of his roommate.
He noted that the police also carried out search on other students in the apartment with some of them also living without a resident permit but were not arrested.
The student who only had a semester to graduate was deported last week.
