Student sent to jail for touching a girl's hip in a school bus in Famagusta

An international student who sexually assaulted a female student on a bus has been sent to prison for not being able to meet his bail condition.

The accused, a student in a university in Famagusta, north Cyprus committed the act while standing in a university school bus in Famagusta on Tuesday, October, 15.

According to police report, the accused identified only as F.Y from Iran sexually assaulted a female student by touching her hip four times. 

The matter was reported to the police which led to his arrest on Friday. Police found out that he came into the country with a tourist visa.

He was taken to a court in Magusa where he denied the accusations brought against him. 

I did not disturb anyone. I'm sorry if there was a misunderstanding, he told the court. 

Police prosecutor told the court that he took statements from 4 people who witnessed the incident on the bus. 

He was told by the court to pay a bail fee of 2,000 Turkish Lira, banned from leaving the country and to be tried in the future. 

He was sent to jail when he could not meet the bail condition.
