Anthony Joshua responds to Deontay Wilder’s scathing criticism of his tactics against Andy Ruiz

Anthony Joshua has hit back at Deontay Wilder following his rival’s scathing criticism of his performance against Andy Ruiz.

 The British heavyweight regained his IBF, WBO and WBA (Super) titles in a measured and discipline performance over 12 rounds.

 Wilder, who is unbeaten and the reigning WBC champion, slammed Joshua’s tactics for the Ruiz clash and insisted he ‘ran’ away from his opponent.

Joshua was handed a wide points victory by all three judges, 118-110, 118-110 and 119-109, and the two-time champion dismissed Wilder’s assessment of his display against Ruiz

Reacting to Wilder's statement, Joshua said;
“That’s Wilder’s opinion.” A lot of people don’t have a good bone in their body to say a positive thing anyway. I outboxed the heavyweight champion of the world for 12 rounds. I don’t think I lost a round. Maybe one
“I come in there with a great game plan, I’m successful. Isn’t that good enough?
“You can’t box to keep everyone happy; you have to box for the win. And I feel like when I’m at home celebrating, he’s there talking about negativity. Negative energy breeds failure so I’m just going to keep a positive mindset and build on that victory".
