Coronavirus hit TRNC economy, authorities cant pay workers

The outbreak of coronavirus in North Cyprus has affected the country's economy, that it can no longer pay workers as at when due.

Minister of Labor and Social Security Faiz Sucuoğlu on Tuesday pointed out that state employees may not be paid on the day of their salaries.

Sucuoğlu said that a resource transfer will be made for workers working in the private sector.

State employees' salary may not be paid on the due day and may be intermittent. Look, I'm not saying anything precise. I say it can be. Our revenues fell. It may be delayed for a few days. This is also normal, he said.
We will make a resource transfer for our workers citizens working in the private sector.
We will transfer 75 to 80 percent of the minimum wage. For this, next week Monday we will identify the addresses that workers can apply for. And the employers will contact us and give the list.
We will give this support to the workers with the funds we will transfer from the fund, he added.
