North Cyprus authority to send over 140 German tourists back home

Over 140 German tourists in north Cyprus will been flown back home by the North Cyprus authority.

This is coming after a 65-year-old German tourist tested positive for the deadly corona virus in the country on Tuesday. The 65-year-old woman was immediately placed on quarantine in Famagusta.

Three hotels where the tourists were staying in Famagusta were quarantined.

The woman’s husband as well as two other people who were with her are in quarantine in hospital while another five people are in isolation at the Salamis hotel.

Three more people suspected of having the virus tested negative, a report said on Wednesday but no other confirmed case has been announced.

141 tourists who arrived in the country from Germany on the same flight as the 65-year-old woman are expected to be flown back home. An empty plane will be sent from Germany to pick them up from the airport at Antalya, Turkey.
