President of the National Association of Nigerian Student (NANS)- Turkish Zone responds to statement credited to TRNC Prime Minister on African students

The President of the National Association of Nigerian Student (NANS)- Turkish Zone, Comrade Gideon Jude in an address to Nigerian students in North Cyprus on Thursday responds to a statement credited to the TRNC Prime Minister on African students in the country.

Good Evening Nigerian students, I am comrade Gideon Jude president of the National Association of Nigerian Students Turkish Republic zone. It is very necessary for us to clear the air in respect to the issues we are currently facing especially to students and residents of North Cyprus. We want to let you know that you should remain calm especially with regards to the statement that we received from some of us and we verified in two news papers that the statement was made by the Prime Minister in person of Ersin Tatar. We have spoken with the office of the Prime Minister, his under secretary called and he’s been able to make clarity on the statement that was made. We want to assure you based on what he said; that that statement did not reflect what the Prime Minister intended to say. So we’ve also requested that his office provides us with a written note clarifying that statement so we should have that sorted latest by tomorrow. So as soon as we have the written note we shall let you know but the telephone call explained that that statement did not reflect what the Prime Minister said. But at the same time let’s continue in the spirit of vigilance and solidarity. Let’s also continue in the struggle, we also want to let you know that you should remain law abiding citizens, please do not go out unless you have the permit that the government requires you to have. Please let’s remain law abiding. And as for statement we will let you know on the update but as at now we have been able to get this clarity that it did not represent what the Prime Minister is trying to say and that the news agency did not also reflect him in the light which is necessary for him. So let’s give undue and let’s give time for that clarity to be made. Thank you so much Nigerian students and to the wider African community, thank you. This is a time to love and it’s a time of peace. Please stay calm and stay safe. Thank you so much Once we we get information regarding the note we have requested from the office of the Prime Minister we will display it you so that you can know Thank you so much once again and I want to appreciate all the executive and other past presidents and Exco who have been resourceful and helped us handle this with wisdom. May God bless you all Thank you, I’m yours in the struggle Bye for now.
