Prisoners to be released from prisons in North Cyprus due to coronavirus
About 50 prisoners at the Lefkosa Central prison in north Cyprus who could not meet their bail conditions will be released temporarily.
The TRNC State Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday ordered the release of around 50 inmates (minor offenders) until they are able face trial at a later date.
The decision is aimed at reducing prisoner numbers and reducing the risk of the spread of coronavirus in the prison.
