Residence and work permit application suspended for 30 days as North Cyprus authorities introduces more measures against coronavirus

The TRNC authorities on Friday introduced new measures against coronavirus in the country as two more cases of the virus were confirmed.

In a press briefing on Friday to introduce new measures taken by the Council of Ministers, TRNC deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kudret Özersay said that the new measures were aimed at ensuring the safety of the public. 

The new measures is as follows;  
-There will be no state of emergency and curfew in the country.

-Work permit and residence permit application especially to people over 60 years old will be suspended for a period of 30 days in an attempt to avoid crowded waiting lines at the Labour Department. No legal process will be applied to workers who need to extend their work permits during this period.

-Excluding the museums and historical sites, tours with more than 10 tourists will be restricted. 

-School will remain on vacation.  

-Call center created to attend to coronavirus related issues will be available 24/7 starting on Friday evening.

-Studies on tourists kept in quarantine at Salamis Hotel continues.

-Public officers will not be allowed to travel out of the country except when necessary.

-All TRNC citizens who recently returned to the island from travel to abide by the measures to self-isolate themselves for two weeks.
