TRNC Prime Minister issues apology for comment he made about Africans in the country

Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar have tendered an apology over a comment he made about Africans living in the country.

Tatar made the apology in a Twitter post on Saturday where he stated that he was human and may have made the unfortunate statement under the influence of fatigue.

He said he was misunderstood and tendered an apology.

I am human too .. what I mean was misunderstood .. maybe it was not true in words under the influence of fatigue .. I was very sorry .. I am also misunderstood and apologize to the people I am sorry for.
Tatar came under fire earlier this week over a comment he made about Africans living in the country where he reportedly said "all Africans in the island (North Cyprus) should be taken care of by those who brought them here and further saying that the Covid-19 crisis in the country present an opportunity to clean them out".

The Prime Minister received criticisms from politicians, students and student bodies in the island who called on him to apologize for such a divisive statement.
