Nineteen more cases of Covid-19 confirmed in South Cyprus, one of them an infant

Nineteen new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Southern Cyprus on Monday, one of them an infant, bringing the total number of cases there to 465.

The Cyprus Health Ministry in a Statement on Monday, said the infant is a three-month-old baby at the Makarios hospital in Nicosia.

The infant tested positive after tests were given to all children and staff currently at the hospital’s intensive care units for newborns and children. The tests were made after a nurse working at the neonatal ICU recently tested positive to coronavirus, reports the Cyprus Mail.

The three-month-old was placed in a negative pressure room with a stable condition.

Nine of the new cases concern contacts of other people while the rest are being investigated.

Seven were detected in two private hospitals, one in Nicosia and one in Larnaca.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 465 (including ten in the British Bases).

323 of the 465 confirmed cases are from contact with other people found positive to Coronavirus.So far 45 people have been cured from the virus.
