Student starving for 5 days gets help

The Lefkosa Municipality said it gave food aid to a student who was reportedly starving and had no food for five days.

According to information being circulated on Turkish Cypriot media, the young woman residing in Lefkosa, North Cyprus with a student visa, has been broke, left without food and was starving for 5 days.

Help came her way when the Lefkosa Municipality aid team knocked on her door on Saturday and handed her a food package.

The student who could not hold the tears in her eyes took the package with shaking hands and repeatedly thanked the team for it's kind gesture.

According to report made available about the student, she had only a few item with her which she bought for a few Turkish Lira weeks ago. The few items only lasted for 10 days and was left without food for 5 days.

***Not everyone is fortunate to get help during this trying period. It will do a whole lot of good if we try to check on friends, neighbors, classmates and others. Many are in their home and dont know what to do or who to run to. We appreciate those who have taken it upon themselves to provide food aid to fellow students. As we get contacts to come for food aid, please help pass the contact to those who may not know about it. God bless each and everyone of us as we look out for each other.
