Three students test positive in north Cyprus, cases reach 91

Three Turkish Cypriot students who returned from the UK and were placed in quarantine have tested positive for coronavirus.

This was made known in an announcement by Turkish Cypriot Health Minister, Ali Pilli on Sunday.

About 238 tests were carried out on Sunday.

All three students are among a group of Turkish Cypriot students who had arrived from the UK on March, 21 and were in quarantine in three hotels in Alsancak and Famagusta for 14 days which was due to end on Sunday but has been extended for a day pending further tests and tracing.

They will be sent home after their follow-up.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the TRNC to 91. So far, two people have died in the TRNC.

No new positive cases were announced yesterday.

Seven people were discharged on Sunday.
