TRNC government makes use of masks compulsory

The TRNC Council of Ministers has banned all residents from going out onto the street without a mask starting from Friday and gatherings during the month of Ramadan prohibited. 

The announcement was made on Wednesday evening by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Kudret Özersay  after a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

Özersay stated that the council of ministers was making new decisions regarding the use of masks, in addition to the curfew.

Those visiting supermarket, butcher, pharmacy bank and similar places will have to wear a mask.

He also announced that meetings such as iftar dinner, which would be a means for citizens to come together in the framework of the month of Ramadan, would not be allowed, and that mass worship could not be held, and that individuals should perform their worship at home. 

He also said that no one will be allowed into the country either by sea, air or land until April, 30, except for exceptions.

These exceptions were stated as those who went abroad for treatment with the approval of the Health Board and those who went abroad for funerals with their relatives. These people are also reported to be subject to quarantine for 14 days after arriving by seaway. 

Özersay stated that businesses and sectors to be opened by May and under what conditions will be considered in a meeting to be held on Friday.
