TRNC well prepared to face a second wave of coronavirus cases should it happen

The TRNC government and the Turkish Cypriot people are more prepared should the TRNC be faced with a second wave of coronavirus cases, said Prime Minister Ersin Tatar.

Tatar made the statement while speaking on a special programme on BRT on Thursday last week.

Tatar said that the country’s process towards normalization will continue without complacency and that the people needed to get used to living a life with measures such as wearing masks.

Tatar explained that the government had strengthened the TRNC’s health infrastructure and was more prepared should a second wave of coronavirus cases emerge.

We currently have 170 beds ready to deal with coronavirus cases. The 160 bed-capacity Girne American Hospital has also been transferred to the state. It should be ready in three to four months, he added.
