EMU plans to set up mentorship Centre to enable senior students help junior students

EMU rector urged lecturers to support the well being of students. The new rector of Eastern Mediterranean University Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın on Thursday said that most important issue in EMU is that the lecturers should be able to support students in other issues besides good academic service in order to make sure that students are happy to be in EMU.  

He also stated that with the support of students studying in the upper classes, they will establish a mentoring system for newcomers, and they are planning to tackle all the problems faced by students , from financial problems to social cultural and sports problems within the framework of a mentorship center.

Prof.  Dr. Aykut Hocanın asserted  that the number of students enrolling should be increased, but the focus of the university is on the quality of education delivered to the students not quantity.

He said that according to EMU admissions statistics the number of students in EMU is increasing  rapidly and they are currently 20 thousand students, two years ago the number sat around  15 thousand students.

He added saying that when the number of students who want to enroll increases and  the number of students who want to receive quality education increases, the student input that is suitable for the vision can be planned.
