TRNC to open its border with South Cyprus on Monday, June, 22

The TRNC government will open it's border with south Cyprus on Monday, June, 22, 10 days earlier than initial open date of July, 1.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret Özersay made the announcement on Sunday evening after a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

The border with the south was closed in March as part of the measures taken against the Covid-19 outbreak.  

Here are the decisions:
-The council made an assessment of the Cyprus crossings.

-They changed the date of opening crossings from 1 July to 22 June.

-As of tomorrow morning, not all individuals in the 6 categories will cross, but all Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot will be able to pass with a 72-hour PCR test results.

-Entry into the country will be allowed from Monday morning if there is PCR test results. 

-Crossings can only  be made through Lokmacı, Beyarmudu, Akyar and Metehan gates.

-TRNC citizens living in the south or staying there for any reason will also be included.

-For all of the categories listed, if they have gone to another country in the last 14 days, sanctions applied to that country will be applied.

-According to the rule applied by South Cyprus, PCR application will be requested in every transition.  Citizens should pay attention to this.

-Citizens  will be charged for tests.
-The decision on sea and air ports opening on 1 July is still valid.
