Cyprus Weather Today: Temperatures to hit 42 degrees

The island is on orange heat alert today, as temperatures remain dangerously high for the fifth consecutive day.

The heatwave is expected to continue tomorrow, with temperatures gradually dropping on Wednesday, more so inland and over the mountains. The hot dry mass affecting the island, will persist at least until Wednesday.

Temperatures will rise to 42 inland, 31 in western coastal areas, 33 in the rest of the coastal regions and 32 over the mountains.

At night, temperatures will drop to 24 degrees Celsius inland and in coastal regions and 22 over the mountains.
 
Winds will be moderate sea breezes in the morning, later turning southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate.

Seas will be slight in the morning, turning slightly moderate in the afternoon and moderate later in the day in windward areas.

Tuesday through to Thursday will see fine skies, but turning increasingly cloudy in the afternoon, inland and over the mountains, with thin mist during the morning and evening times.

Temperatures will gradually drop on Tuesday, still remaining above average for this time of year.
