Jellyfish off the sea of Kyrenia caused horrific reaction on a woman's arm

A jellyfish sting on the hand of a woman in Kyrenia left behind an eerie sight with experts issuing warning on how to avoid the sea creature.

A horrific photograph of a woman with skin reaction caused as a result of a sting by jellyfish was shared by a pharmacist.

The incident which happened on the beach between Karaoğlanoğlu (Ayorgi) and Merit in Kyrenia on Monday has increased the fear of beach goers this year.

The woman had gone to the pharmacy to buy drugs due to the severity of the sting. The pharmacist warned the public to be careful when they go to the beach.

How can we be protected?
Ülkümen Rodoplu, Vice President of the European Emergency Medicine Association, stated that the number of jellyfish in the Mediterranean has increased and warned the public not to wash themselves with fresh water when they come in contact with jellyfish or they will cause the poison to spread throughout the body.

Rodoplu suggested that the most valid method for protection is to swim by wearing a T-shirt where there is a lot of jellyfish.
