TRNC announces new rules for entry
The TRNC Health Ministry’s Contagious Diseases High Committee
announced on Wednesday that it has revised some of its decisions
regarding entries in the country.
According to the latest decision, individuals arriving from the UK as
of July 16 will be required to present a negative PCR test carried out
in the last 72 hours before arrival and will have to test again upon
arrival.
Individuals will then have to enter quarantine for a week.
Changes were also introduced for those wishing to use the crossing points.
TRNC citizens who work, study or receive treatment in the south will be required to conduct a PCR test every 15 days. This will apply on the condition that the person has not left the island for 14 continuous days. If the person has travelled abroad, he or she will be subject to conditions that apply for the category in which the country they travelled to and from is listed.
Turkish Cypriot residents of Pile will be able to cross to the north on the condition they carry out a PCR test the first time they cross.
The TRNC will also be allowing arrivals from the UK as of July 16 on the condition that the downward trend in case numbers continues.
Individuals arriving from the UK will be required to present a negative PCR test carried out 72 hours before their arrival and will have to have a second PCR test done upon arrival. They will then be required to quarantine for seven days and allowed to go following a third PCR test.
Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots entering the TRNC via crossing points will only be required to carry out a one-off PCR test. Individuals will then be tested randomly at certain periods.
Turkish Cypriots, Greek Cypriots and other foreign nationals wishing to enter the TRNC via the South and who need to have a PCR test done will be able to do so through the Metehan and Beyarmudu crossing points.
All diplomatic, United Nations (UN), European Union (EU), British Bases Area (SBA) staff as well as members of international organisations will only be required to present a negative PCR test the first time they cross over to the north.
However, Turkish Cypriots working in the UN buffer zone and local UN or SBA staff will be required to re-test for COVID-19 every 15 days.
Those travelling to the TRNC from a category C country will be required to provide a negative PCR test carried out in the last 72-120 hours.
These individuals will be re-tested upon arrival and will be placed at a state-monitored quarantine facility for 14 days.
Arrivals from Category B countries will be required to provide a negative PCR test carried out in the last 72-120 hours and will undergo a second PCR test upon arrival.
These individuals will be required to self-isolate at their hotels or place of residence until their test results are announced.
