Two new case of coronavirus reported in TRNC on Monday, one of the case reportedly escaped from quarantine

Two new cases of coronavirus were reported in Northern Cyprus on Monday, bringing the total number of cases there to 135. 

Announcing the new cases on Monday, TRNC Minister of Health, Ali Pilli said 1,391 tests were carried out in the last 24 hours and 2 positive cases recorded.      

The two cases came to the TRNC by air.

One of the case came to the TRNC 7 days ago. PCR test carried out on him came out negative but he later applied to the Fever and Cough Outpatient Clinic with certain complaints. A second PCR test carried out on him came out positive. 

The case have started receiving treatment at the State Hospital Quarantine Service in Lefkosa while his contacts were traced and placed on quarantine.

The other is a person who was reported to have escaped from a hotel where he was lodged in Kyrenia on Monday morning. Report say the person had left the TRNC by ship.

According to the Minister, by so doing, the individual has broken the TRNC law on covid-19 which he signed in undertaking and will be prosecuted with the help of Turkey. Officials in Turkey will be contacted on the issue, the Minister said.

The Minister said a commitment will be signed with all hotels in the TRNC on Tuesday which will make them responsible for persons who will be isolated in the hotels until their PCR result is out.
Sanctions will be imposed on any hotel operators who do not comply with the rules.
