Senegal national arrested and detained in TRNC for illegal residency
A foreign national living in the TRNC illegally was arrested in Lefkosa and taken to court last week.
The accused, identified only as D.S from Senegal was arrested at about 8:30pm on Thursday, August, 6 during immigration control.
He was taken to a court in Lefkosa on Friday on charges of illegal residency.
According to police report, the accused has been living in the TRNC illegally for over a year.
Police prosecutor who testified in court, said the accused was identified and arrested during immigration control.
The accused came to the TRNC on February, 6, 2018 with a 30-day visa and got a residence permit that expired on February, 7, 2019 but did not renew after that. Police said he did not leave the TRNC since the date of issue.
Investigation revealed that he had a work permit which was terminated on February, 7, 2019 and no application was made for renewal.
He was sent to prison for a period of 10 days before trail.
