Student stabs roommate with wine opener at their residence in Diken
A 22-year-old student stabbed and injured his friend following a dispute at their residence in Dikmen.
The incident between two Nigerian students happened at about 3:00pm on Sunday, August, 16 at their residence in Lavinium Site, Dikmen over money issue.
The victim, a 22-year-old was seriously injured after he was stabbed on the left arm with a wine opener at the disposal of the accused.
The victim who was left with a 4.5cm deep wound was taken to the Lefkosa State Hospital where he underwent surgery while the accused was arrested and investigated.
Speaking in court, the suspect said that they were cousins and did not intend to harm him.
Police said they have been roommate since 2018.
He was detained for 2 days on court order
