TRNC police to fine and prosecute anyone who do not wear face mask while in public

Turkish Cypriot police has called on the general public to take individual measures and the need to wear a mask at all time including observing social distancing.

With the increase in the number of cases in the country in recent days, the police warned about individual measures, reminding the public that it is mandatory to wear a mask when out in public and also reiterating that the social distance rule should be followed.

In a statement on Tuesday, it said wearing a mask while going out on the streets is a legal obligation and that a penalty will be imposed on those who do not comply with this rule, and it was repeated that an investigation will be launched against these people.

In the statement, it said reviewing individual measures regarding health gained importance again;

For the health and safety of all of us, we invite our people not to compromise, to act with a sense of responsibility, to strictly comply with the measures taken by the Council of Ministers in order to prevent the spread of Corona Virus (Covid-19) and to maintain social distance.
We remind once again that wearing a MASK while going out on the streets is a legal obligation and that criminal prosecution will be initiated against those who do not obey the rules within the framework of the current legislation, the statement said.
