Students can start coming from September, 20: Higher Committee for Contagious Diseases

The TRNC Higher Committee for Contagious Diseases adopted a series of new decisions on Tuesday following earlier decisions adopted by the Council of Ministers.

According to the new decisions, students studying in TRNC universities will return as of September 20.

-University students arriving in the country will be required to remain in seven-day mandatory quarantine at dormitories or hotels to be approved and inspected by the Health Ministry.

-Casinos, night clubs, discos, cinemas, theatres, funfairs and other music and dancing places will remain closed until October 1.

-Parks and indoor playing areas will also be closed. All schools, private teaching institutes, study centres for the exception of day-care centres or nurseries will also remain closed until October 1.

-New arrangements will be made for barbers, hair salons and beauty parlours as well as bars and restaurants. Massage parlours will also be closed.

-While the number of customers at bars, restaurants and taverns will be limited, tighter inspections will be carried out. It has also been decided to ban all weddings, crowded birthday parties, mass celebratory events and religious ceremonies.

-Mass prayers have also been banned until October 1 and attendance to funerals will be limited to only first degree family members. The new measures also concern the cancellation of all sports training exercises, events, indoor court sporting activities and camps until October 1.

-There is no ban for individual sports carried out indoors or outdoors but certain restrictions have been introduced.

-A maximum of 25 persons will be allowed in indoor sports facilities for areas 200m2 or larger, 15 persons for areas 100-200m2, ten persons for areas between 50-100m2 and five for areas smaller than 50m2.

-The number of flights and ferry services per day to the country will also be limited. The number will be limited to two flights and one ferry service (max 75 passengers) a day in line with the country’s quarantine capacity.

-Flights and ferry services will be cancelled in cases where the country’s quarantine capacity is full.
