Water supply from Turkey to TRNC to be restored by September, 25

Water supply from Turkey to the TRNC will be restored by September, 25, said Turkish Vice president, Fuat Oktay.

Repair work for the water pipeline carrying freshwater from Turkey to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will be completed by September 25, the Turkish vice president said on Thursday.

Work on Water Supply Project in the Republic of Turkey is currently on going to eliminate defects occurring over the work.

TRNC Prime Minister Ersin Tatar was in the Turkish district of Anamur on Thursday where he carried out a variety of contacts. 

Prime Minister Ersin Tatar came together with Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay as part of his visit to the region. 

Tatar and Oktay carried out an inspection of the water pipes that are currently being repaired. 

The nearly 106-kilometre (66-mile) pipeline is one of the most important projects in the world, said Fuat Oktay during his visit to Skandi Seven ship, one of the vessels participating in repair work in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.

The water pipes are part of the Water Transfer Projects that was realised between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Oktay said the repair of faulty pipe will see the restoration of water supply to the TRNC latest on September 25.
