3 Zimbabwean students die in fatal accident along the Güzelyurt-Lefkosa high way, 1 in critical condition

The death toll rose to 3 in the traffic accident that occurred on Tuesday night along Gulzelyurt- Lefkosa high way near Yılmazköy.  

22-year-old Electious Vhere, who was seriously injured in the accident, later died in the intensive care unit.

One of the two other injured who were hospitalized was taken to intensive care.

While 22-year-old Elliot Simbarashe Kanofema and 23-year-old Dean Marufa died at the accident site; Electıous Vhere, 22, who was injured in the accident, died in the intensive care service of the Lefkosa State Hospital.

All three victims are Zimbabwean students.

According to police report, the accident happened near Yılmazköy at around 8:00pm on Tuesday as they were heading towards Lefkosa from Güzelyurt when their vehicle driven by Elliot Simbarashe Kanofema left the road at a roundabout and hit a steel barriers.

Approximately 10 minutes after the accident occurred, a car driven by Abdullah Sadık, 67 in the direction crashed into their vehicle which previously hit the barriers.

According to the first findings, the driver of the vehicle Elliot Kanafema and Dean Marufa, 23 who was in the same vehicle as a passenger, were thrown from the vehicle and lost their lives at the scene.

Two other people Electıous Vhere and Tınashe Bvepfe, 25 who were passengers in the vehicle were severely injured in the accident. Abdullah Sadık was taken to the State Hospital.

Those who were seriously injured in the accident were treated in the intensive care unit, and the mildly injured in the emergency department. However, Electıous Vhere who was being treated in the intensive care unit, could not be saved and died.

Tınashe Bvepfe is under observation in intensive care, and the slightly injured Abdullah Sadık is kept under observation in the emergency ward.

The investigation of the case is continuing.
