TRNC expects 30-35 thousand students this Fall

The TRNC is expecting beween 30-35 thousand students to come to the island in the Fall semester.

Ministry of National Education and Culture, Çavuşoğlu made evaluations on the issue on Truth Web TV on Wednesday.

There are over 50,000 students in our country who have not left our country, we expect about 30-35 thousand students to come to our country, the Minister said.

Çavuşoğlu stated that they were excited about restarting face-to-face education saying,

There is not even a day to lose for any reason.

Wishing the 2020-2021 academic year to be beneficial to all students and teachers and wishing them to have a healthy period, Çavuşoğlu said,

We are excited to resume the face-to-face education we interrupted on March 10 due to the pandemic.

WE EXPECT 30-35 THOUSAND STUDENTS TO COME TO OUR COUNTRY

Stating that they wanted university students to come to the country more easily, but they saw that the number of cases increased in non-quarantined entries, Çavuşoğlu said,

Now there must be quarantined entries. I struggled hard for students to come without quarantine, but since the number of epidemics has increased, I am at the point of being more controlled.
Currently, if the university student comes to our country, the PCR test and the period of quarantine will be covered by our country. Those coming from group B countries have to stay in quarantine for 7 days, and those from group C countries for 14 days.
In our country, there are more than 50 thousand students who have not left our country, and we expect 30-35 thousand students to come to our country.

Noting that they announced 40% online and 60% face-to-face education with their decision, Çavuşoğlu said,

Of course, the absence of students has a reflection on economic life.
Many countries that provide online education have made students obliged to be in the country. Our problem is that there is no country in the world with quarantine entry. Therefore, due to the limitations in the number of aircraft and quarantine practices, we could not present this proposal. If there was no quarantined entry, I would have submitted this proposal to the Council of Ministers.

Pointing out that they can overcome this process only with common sense, Çavuşoğlu said,

There will definitely be different thoughts and we have to agree on minimum commonalities on this issue, but if the issue is health or education, we cannot fight.
Just as everyone helped each other during the pandemic period, just as Syrian refugees came to our country, everyone in the country helped those there, the people should be sensitive and help their neighbor. A child that we cannot teach today becomes an uneducated person in the future and harms you.
