Coronavirus under control in North Cyprus - Health Minister

Coronavirus is under control in the TRNC said Minister of Health, Ali Pilli.

Pilli made the remarks on Thursday when evaluating the coronavirus pandemic and the health infrastructure in the country.

He noted that the Covid-19 was under control in the TRNC thanks to the measure taken adding that the pandemic will not end in the country until it has ended around the world. 

There will be an increase in influenza during the winter. This will also cause an increase in the Covid-19 cases. Therefore, we need to take measures in order to prevent this. If we follow the mask, social distance and hygiene rules we can pull through Covid 19 with a minimum harm. Only the government taking measures is not enough, everyone should take their own measures also, he said.

Touching upon the quarantine issue, Pilli noted that the best method was quarantine hotels however added that this was causing a great expense for the government. 

On the issue of the pandemic hospital, he said the hospital could be used as an infection and chest disease hospital after the pandemic. Pilli also added that additional personnel including doctors, nurses and technicians will be employed at the pandemic hospital following the establishment of a new government. 

 Reminding that the construction of the Güzelyurt Hospital was continuing, Pilli explained that 30 million TL was allocated for the hospital adding that it will be finished 6 months later.
