Hails and heavy rain in some parts of North Cyprus (photos)

The rainy weather that started on Thursday night negatively affected several parts of the island. 

In North Cyprus, the Kyrenia region was the most affected with wind and tornado causing severe damages to lots of properties and houses.

It was a different story in places like Karpas, Ziyamet and Yenierenköy where the rain was most effective causing hails (pellets of frozen rain ) to rain down like snow.

Some roads in the region were closed to traffic due to rains and hails. 

According to the information obtained from the Meteorology Department, about 78 kilograms of hail fell on a square meter in Ziyamet and 56 kilograms in Yenierenköy.

The rainy weather is expected to continue into the weekend.
