Student arrested for breaking into banks and a phone shop in Lefkosa

A student who is suspected of breaking a bank door and a telephone operator shop in Lefkosa has been arrested two months after he reportedly committed the crime.

The suspect, a 29-year-old Nigerian, reportedly broke the door of a bank and telephone operator shop in Lefkosa on September, 26, 2020. 

He was taken to a court in Lefkosa on Monday.

Police prosecutor told the court that the suspect, broke the padlock on the main entrance of the aluminum door of a Teknocell phone shop at Kemal Asik Street in Lefkosa and also deliberately and unlawfully broke a 240x 210cm in 5 +5 Lameks safety glass of a bank, worth $300 with a iron cutting tool at his disposal

He explained that the suspect caused deliberate damage by breaking it illegally. 

The police, by examining the security camera records, identified the suspect in Famagusta on October, 2, 2020. 

The police said that the suspect had an iron cutting device and two checks worth 5 thousand pounds sterling. 

He was also accused of breaking into two other banks.

The police demanded that the suspect be detained for 3 days so that the investigation can be carried out safely.
