Tornado from sea, wind and heavy rain destroy houses, properties and cars in North Cyprus (photos)

Several houses, cars and properties were destroyed by heavy rain fall, wind and tornadoes in several parts of the country on Friday.

It was reported that 3 people were slightly injured as a result of adverse weather conditions in Kyrenia region.

Houses and properties were destroyed at various points from Sadrazamköy to Çatalköy region. Tress were broken and toppled, electricity was cut, and the generator in Geçitköy dam was switched on.

The rain that started since last night stopped at about 4:00pm on Friday.

At about 1:40pm in Çatalköy Municipality, a whirlwind in the sea near Acapulco hotel headed towards the Teknecik power plant and made many residences in the region and Çatalköy to leave their homes.

Due to the damage caused by the whirlwind to Teknecik power plan, electricity could not be supplied to the region. Another whirlwind also occurred in the Vounous region between Çatalköy - Ozanköy.

Major damages occurred in many houses in this region. Workplaces were also affected.

A crisis desk was set up by the Kyrenia District Governor.
