Carabao Cup semi-final draw confirmed

Manchester United will host local rivals Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

Championship side Brentford will face a trip to fellow Londoners Tottenham Hotspur in the other semi-final as the race to lift the first major silverware of the domestic season hots up.

Ties will be played in the week commencing January 4.

However, the winners will face a lengthy wait until the final with the game pushed back to April 25 with the hope of some fans being able to attend the event at Wembley.

Brentford booked their place in the last four with a 1-0 win over Premier League Newcastle United on Tuesday night.

Josh Dasilva's second half strike saw the much-changed Bees claim victory and move one game away from Wembley.

Manchester City, looking to win the competition for the fourth straight season, took apart Arsenal 4-1 at the Emirates to move into the last four.

Tottenham beat Stoke City 3-1 in their quarter-final on Wednesday night before Manchester United saw Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial score late on to beat Everton in the final tie.
