Many black women are working in the construction sector in the TRNC said, Doğuş Derya, a parliamentarian.

Delivering a speech titled "Violence against women and social policies in our country" on Monday.

She stated that they were waiting to bring these issues to the agenda as they could not find an addressee since there was no government, but the issues were too urgent to hold.

Pointing out that domestic violence has increased in the Covid era, Derya explained that the necessary steps are still not taken to make the Gender Equality Department functional.

Expressing that a national plan should be prepared for gender equality policies, Derya said that, thanks to the proposal they made just before the pandemic era, the articles criminalizing human trafficking were added to the relevant law, but the requirements of the law were not fulfilled.

Derya said that although the Night Clubs Law was passed, its requirements were still not fulfilled, and that there were many black women working in the construction.

She stated that there were major improvements in the legislation but there was serious problems in the execution.

Stating that there is a need for institutional mechanisms to solve the problems, Derya gave an example that the translations of the victims of human trafficking were made by the Bar Association, "Is the state incapable of doing this?" she asked.

Stating that there is a need to allocate intent, vision and budget on these issues, Derya explained that if the government is established, she will demand from the Presidency of the Assembly to establish a committee consisting of only women representatives who will work on gender equality and social policies.
