TRNC police issues restrictions warning to the public

The General Directorate of Police issued a warning to the public by reminding them that in the light of the decisions taken by the Council of Ministers on Saturday as announced by Prime Minister Ersan Saner, partial curfew will be in force from 10:00pm to 5:00am starting on Sunday, January, 17, 2021.

The statement made by the General Directorate of Police is as follows;

"Attention!

The Curfew Begins From 10:00pm Tonight.

In order to prevent the spread of Corona Virus (Covid-19), the Council of Ministers decided to impose a curfew from 10:00pm at night as of January 17, 2021, until 5:00am in the morning till Sunday, January 25, 2021.

For this purpose, it is forbidden for people except those who are allowed to work to meet basic needs and those who will perform essential services in the public (police, fire brigade, municipal employees, civil defense, health workers, district governorships, etc.) to go out on the streets.

Persons other than those who are exempt from the curfew will only be able to go out on the streets with a permit they will obtain by contacting police stations in emergency situations.

We invite all of our people to comply with the decisions taken, and remind once again that legal action will be taken within the framework of the current legislation for those who do not comply with the curfew.
