Flight restriction at Ercan Airport lifted

The TRNC Ministry of Public Works and Transport has declared that "the daily flight restriction has been lifted".

This was made known in an aviation statement released on Monday.

According to information from Civil Aviation officials, the restriction was lifted to allow students to arrive with quarantine.

The Ministry in a statement said;

NOTAM (Notice to Aviators), which limits the number of civil flights to Ercan Airport to two flights per day, has been canceled as of 4:55pm today (Monday). This decision was taken to enable foreign students studying at TRNC universities to be brought to the country. The rules applicable to all other passengers and foreign students coming to the country will be applied. Students will not be exempt from quarantine. It is announced to the public with respect.

The Ministry of Transport is expected to make an official statement on the issue.

There will be quarantine periods of 10 to 14 days, depending on the country of origin.

The government said nearly 3 thousand students came in 21 days and arrangements are made to allow only students to come.

The government noted that all administrative staff in higher education need a total of around 20,500 vaccines as request has been made for this to minimize the risk of coronavirus.
