Prisoner escapes from Lefkosa prison

Turkish Cypriot police are searching for a man who escaped from the Central Prison in Lefkosa on Monday.

According to police report, the prisoner identified as Alexsandr SATLAEV, a Russian national who was under arrest in the Central Prison, escaped from the prison on Monday.

According to report, Alexsandr found an opportunity to escape from prison when food was about to be delivered to prisoners in his cell.

It is highly requested that those who see the person in question inform the nearest police station. 

Alexander Satlaev was arrested in Kyrenia on September, 22, 2019 on charges of stealing money from a woman's purse after squeezing her throat.

According to report by Russian media, Satlaev, a former police inspector (detective) in the Altai Autonomous Republic of the Russian Federation was dismissed from service and was sentenced to 4 years in prison for raping 4 people in his country in 2013. But he was released in March, 2019 after paying a fine of 250,000 Ruble.

Sources say he was found by the military in Dikem but escaped again.
