Student surrender self to police, 4 days after stealing a bag with money from a cafe in Lefkosa

A student who stole a bag containing money from a chair in a cafe in Lefkosa has handed himself over to the police, 4 days after the incident.

The person identified only as G.E reportedly visited a cafe in Lefkosa on Monday, January, 25 where he took away a bag he saw on a chair.

He surrendered himself to the police on Friday, January, 29 and was arrested for crimes of "circumvention and unauthorized residence".

Police investigation revealed that he has been living illegally in the TRNC since 2017. 

He was taken to a court in Lefkosa and a 3-day detention warrant was issued against him.

Police Officer who tetified against him in court said the suspect entered a cafe in Lefkosa at about 9:30pm on Monday, January 25 and took away a black handbag with 1500 TL cash inside from a chair in front of the bar. 

The officer said the suspect came to the Lefkosa Forensic Branch on Friday, January, 29 and surrendered.

He said the suspect has been living in the TRNC illegally since October, 23 2017. Ş

Court judge, Temay Sağer, who evaluated the testimony given in his presence, ordered the suspect to be detained by the police for 3 days for investigation purposes.
