A foreigner living in the TRNC was last week arrested in Kyrenia in connection with a cyber crime that occurred in February 2021.

The suspect was arrested on Friday, March, 19 and taken to court on charges of cyber crime.

Police officer who testified in court said the TRNC on Wednesday, March, 17, received a complaint from the Financial Crime Branch Headquarters in Denmark about the crime committed between February, 5-25.

According a police officer who gave testimony on the issue in court, the suspect reportedly hacked the email correspondence between two businesses operating in Denmark and Turkey and changed the account details of the company thereby directing 137 thousand euros meant for furniture sales to a business account in North Cyprus.
