TRNC will be thrown into total darkness by April, 15 when fuel used to power electricity runs out

The country will be in total darkness by April, 15 when the fuel used to power electricity in the TRNC will have run out, said, the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority Employees Union (EL-SEN).

(EL-SEN) in a statement reported last week said KIB-TEK, the country's electricity distribution authority had 15-20 tons of fuel left, and by 15th of April, the fuel would have run out and the country would be buried in darkness.

EL-SEN President Kubilay Özkıraç in a statement, stated that KIB-TEK tanks were empty, the meter requirement could not be met and the Authority could not install meters at the moment, there was 15-20 tons of fuel left, and although the fuel will end on April 15, there is still no fuel tender and it should not be forgotten that the tender process will take 3 months.

Underlining the need for a 220-ton tender for fuel, Özkıraç stated that the government, which did not consider these, was engaged in the construction of a new presidential palace, and that the conditions of the minimum wage earner, the poor, the press member were terribly bad.

He said they will soon prepare an action plan and implement it in a way that does not make the public suffer.
