TRNC can not afford to close down for the third time - Minister of Finance

The TRNC can not afford to close down for the third time despite the increase in the number of contamination in the country, said Minister of Finance, Dursun Oğuz.

According to Dursun Oğuz, the country closed twice during the pandemic, but could not afford the third closure.

That's why individual responsibility and control come to the fore, Dursun Oğuzsaid. The government made new decisions on inspection, authorized the municipalities on inspection and increased penalties.
When we implement these laws, I believe we can make this country healthier by controlling those who do not obey the rules.

Speaking about the quarantine expenses, Oğuz stated that the hotels and dormitories are paid approximately 25 million TL per month and the increase in the number of positive cases and contacts in the last days has also increased the costs.

Reminding that the application of electronic wristbands started and was implemented in the criteria announced by the Health Supreme Council, Oğuz said that they aim to reduce the expenses of the state by using wristbands in contact and students in the coming period with the approval of the Health Supreme Council.

The 10-day quarantine application on arrivals to the country continues now. But when this bracelet starts to be applied more widely, people will pay 750 TL wristband fee instead of paying 3 thousand 50 TL quarantine fee when they come. As they will get back 350 TL of this, they will come to the country for 400 TL and stated his belief that this practice will contribute to the country both socially and economically.

He stated that the state has undertaken the quarantine fees of the students and that approximately 35 million TL quarantine fee has been paid for over 11 thousand students who have come to the island so far, Oğuz said that in these difficult conditions, the State has undertaken this burden with the aim of reviving the economy.
