TRNC Government introduces amnesty for foreigners

The TRNC Ministry of Labor has issued an amnesty for foreigners who could not enter the country and exit during the COVID-19 period.

Foreign nationals who are in the country without Residence, Work, Student Immigration permit will be able to renew their permits without entering and leaving the country if they apply to the ministry until June 30, and they will not be subject to any penalties.

APPLICATIONS HAVE STARTED…
Minister of Labor and Social Security, Koral Çağman, stated that people who need their visa or legal permits to go abroad can benefit from the amnesty, depending on the pandemic process.  

The applications to the ministry started on Friday, April, 9 and will continue until 30 June.

WHO IS COVERED BY THE LEGAL AMENDMENT?

  • Persons who stay in the country with a 'residence permit', have worked less than 6 months in their last place of work, whose work permit has been canceled and whose legal visa period has not expired for 40 days after the date of cancellation will be able to benefit from the amnesty.
  • Those who graduated from school with a student immigration permit and / or dismissed from school and whose legal visa period of 60 days has not expired after the termination will also benefit from the work.
  • Before the date of the 2020 Foreigners and Immigration Ordinance, those who entered the country with an identity card and have not expired legal visa will benefit from the study.
  • Persons who have entered with a passport and whose legal visa has not expired will be able to make a transaction exempt from pre-permit until June 30, 2021, by accepting the date of application to the Office and the starting date of work.

The regulation was amended within the scope of Article 23 of the Law on Work Permits for Foreigners, and the regulation was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

According to the new regulation; Foreign nationals who are in the country with the permission of 'residence', 'work', 'student immigration' will be able to renew their permits without entering and leaving abroad if they apply to the ministry until June 30 and will not be subject to any penalties.
