TRNC government plans to resume tourism activities

The government of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has concluded plans to resume tourism activities in the country.

Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu made the revelation on Monday.

Speaking in parliament, Ataoğlu said they were planning to fully open tourism in May but that the public’s health remained their priority.

Providing information about the work being carried out on closed-circuit tourism, Ataoğlu said that they have exchanged views with the Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases and were continuing to meet with sector representatives.

Ataoğlu said that the tourism sector will open on April 12 and that 500 to 1000 tourists were expected to come to the country.

The hotels will operate with a closed-circuit system, guests will be wearing electronic bracelets, there will be no entry or exit to or from hotels and the establishments will be in charge of inspecting all customers and employees.
